Walmart is taking a page from Hollywood for its newest campaign, or rather its vehicles: everything from the Jeep in Jurassic Park to the Flintstones’ car and Cinderella’s carriage.
During the Golden Globes Sunday, the world’s largest retailer debuted a new commercial for its grocery pickup service featuring famous cars from movies and TV shows.
Walmart U.S. Chief Marketing Officer Barbara Messing said in a statement that it’s the “biggest and first-ever cross-platform national marketing campaign for Walmart Grocery Pickup.”
Other cars in the commercial include Transformers’ Bumblebee, the Batmobile, Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1, K.I.T.T. from “Knight Rider,” Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine and the DeLorean time machine from “Back to the Future”.
Messing said the campaign highlights the “magic moment” of the experience: “when a Walmart associate loads the customer’s trunk with groceries.”
The free curbside pickup service requires a $30 minimum purchase. Learn more about the program available at participating locations at https://grocery.walmart.com.
“We not only picked ‘famous cars’ from iconic movies we knew would be instantly recognizable to our customers – and launched the campaign during one of the film industry’s most popular awards shows – but we also worked with a variety of different Hollywood studios to gain access to these vehicles,” Messing said in the statement.
