How to Have Kohl’s or UPS Box and Ship Your Amazon Returns for Free

Whether you’re lazy AF or you’re in a panicked state because you need to make an Amazon return and you (or someone in your household) threw away your item’s packaging, fret not. A fairly new partnership between Amazon and both Kohl’s and the UPS Store will allow you to return your Amazon purchases directly through them—and they’ll take care of everything.

No, Kohl’s and the UPS Store aren’t acting as a mail carrier—well, not just a mail carrier. The genius of this partnership is that you can roll up to either store, product in hand, and all you’ll need is your smartphone. They’ll take your raw item, box it up for you, and send it back to Amazon on your behalf. It’s a simple process for both stores, as Kohl’s describes:

1. Begin your return with Amazon’s Online Return Center

2. Select the Kohl’s Dropoff option

3. Amazon will email you a QR code

4. Bring the item(s) you’re returning to a participating Kohl’s store and show the QR code on your smartphone to a Kohl’s associate in-store

5. Kohl’s will pack, label and ship your return for free

The only drawback I see to this program—aside from having to go to Kohl’s, which I don’t think I’ve been to since my parents dragged me there as a kid—is that the return service at Kohl’s isn’t applicable if you live in Anchorage, Alaska. That’s it. Sorry, Alaska. (I didn’t see any exceptions on UPS’ site.)
